First off, the only DVD release worth mentioning is Animeigo's "The Blind Menace". Shintaro Katsu's pre-Zatoichi blind man role. Other than that, there seems to be a few Jackie Chan films, special collection tins (Machine Girl), Blu Ray refurbs (Versus) and Cinema Epoch smut (Tokyo Train Girls...like 4 volumes of it). Really though, if you're reading this post, are these the places or types of "good" films you acquire? I hope not, I really do, but somehow I doubt it. Stupid Americans. In the last month, I on the other hand have gotten my mitts on some beautiful early 70's yakuza eigas I eagerly anticipate to watch.
What else is new? Um, BIG DAY this Friday. The wif and I are going to our annual viewing at NYAFF. We are going to see Miike's "Yatterman" at 3pm at the Lincoln Center. I should have a few cocktails in me by then. My expectations of this film are (super) low. I think the wif is already planning a massage appt during the last half of the film. At least I anticipate a beautiful (although hot) day, enjoyable bar hop, a pleasant dinner and a comfy boat ride home. Don't think we'll be sticking to the Up-Westside/Midtown though. As usual, I'll be sure to doc the harrowing experience.
Other BS -- F the Iphone! Let me rephrase that, "Everyone should buy an Iphone." I am eagerly waiting for Dell's "Streak" to hit the US by end of July. I have nothing against the iPhone, just these loonies who would kill there mama's just to get one. I still have a few months till i can upgrade (November). Which is actually a good thing cause i believe they are going to update the Streak to Froyo (2.2) by end of the year.
